Reports To: Director of Visual and Performing Arts

Position Summary

The Summer Arts Director serves as the primary operational leader for the district's Summer Arts Program. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, administration, and successful implementation of all summer arts programming, including camp operations, theatrical productions, staffing, budgeting, communications, and community engagement. The Director works collaboratively with district departments, faculty, staff, students, families, and community partners to ensure a high-quality, safe, and engaging arts experience for all participants.

Essential Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Provide overall leadership and operational management of the Summer Arts Program.
  • Develop and manage the annual Summer Arts budget.
  • Coordinate program planning, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Review and approve all Summer Arts productions and performances.

Staffing & Human Resources

  • Recruit, interview, and hire show directors, camp faculty, and seasonal camp staff.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to Summer Arts personnel.
  • Facilitate staff communication and ensure alignment with program goals and district expectations.

Registration & Enrollment

  • Coordinate registration processes and program enrollment.
  • Assist with registration setup and management.
  • Develop and maintain Summer Arts program materials, including camp brochures and website content.

Communication & Community Relations

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Summer Arts Program and students, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage communications through ParentSquare and other district communication platforms.
  • Oversee marketing efforts to promote Summer Arts opportunities and events.
  • Provide timely communication regarding program updates, schedules, and performances.

Collaboration & District Coordination

  • Act as liaison with district departments including:
    • Student Services
    • Facilities
    • Security
    • Business Office and Financial Aid Programs
  • Coordinate logistics and operational needs to support successful program delivery.

Production & Event Management

  • Collaborate with production crews and technical theatre personnel to support performances and productions.
  • Oversee front-of-house operations for performances and events.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and welcoming experiences for performers, families, and audience members.
  • Support performance logistics including ticketing, audience management, and event coordination.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure program operations adhere to district policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with security and facility personnel to maintain safe learning and performance environments.
  • Address operational challenges and support effective problem-solving throughout the program.

Work Environment

This position requires some evening and weekend work during summer programming and performances. The Summer Arts Director is expected to be present during camp operations, rehearsals, performances, and special events. 

 

$6,000 stipend
